Ambuja’s water Projects Strengthen rural Agriculture in Rajasthan
Ambuja Cements has strengthened its water stewardship initiatives in Marwar Mundwa, supporting local farmers through rainwater harvesting systems, farm ponds, and irrigation upgrades designed to enhance crop resilience and income.
In Didiya Kalan, a 1,782-cubic-metre farm pond and rooftop harvesting system have enabled off-season cultivation of high-value crops like cumin. Across the region, Ambuja has facilitated over 170 farm ponds and more than 3,400 rooftop systems, capturing over 38,000 cubic metres of water for irrigation.
Farmers such as Bhauram Ji and Pipudi Devi of Mundwa village have tripled their annual earnings to approximately Rs 6 lakh after shifting from rain-dependent farming to consistent cultivation of cotton, cumin, and isabgol, supported by a 17-lakh litre pond. Similarly, Dharmendra Mundel doubled his cultivable land using a poly-lined pond and micro-irrigation, raising his yearly income to between Rs 15–18 lakh.
These interventions are part of Ambuja Cements’ focused CSR commitment to building water security and advancing sustainable rural livelihoods in water-stressed regions
