The book

When INDIA Inc. went to work at the grassroots

What a decade of doing good taught us all.

Over the past decade, corporate India has undergone a quiet yet significant transformation. With the advent of structured CSR, decision-making moved beyond boardrooms into villages, classrooms, health centres, farms, and communities across India.

When India Inc. went to work at the grassroots is Team CauseBecause’s attempt to document this journey.

This book is a curated collection of first-person narratives written by corporate decision makers, policymakers, civil society practitioners, and domain experts who have spent a decade or more working at the intersection of corporates and communities.

Why?

Because, together, these narratives will:

  • Create a collective memory of India’s CSR evolution
  • Offer practical insights for current and future leaders
  • Serve as a reference for policymakers, funders, and institutions
  • Document a critical phase in India’s development journey

The narratives focus on real experiences — successes, failures, doubts, learning, and change. This is not a celebratory compilation or an academic text, but an honest, grounded account of India’s CSR decade.

Association opportunity

This initiative is conceived as a collaborative sandbox — a shared space where practitioners, policymakers, corporate leaders, and institutions contribute not for immediate visibility, but for long-term value to the development and CSR domain.

Supporting partners are  contributing towards the collective effort of publishing, printing, distribution, and dissemination of the book, and are acknowledged as enablers of this sandbox initiative.
