Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Care Hospital Marks 100 Years with Commemorative Coffee Table Book

Mar 18, 2026

Marking 100 years as one of India’s most respected and trusted eye care institutions, Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Care Hospital has launched a commemorative coffee table book that documents its journey and outlines its plans for the future. Looking ahead, the institution aims to expand its network to 10 centres and 150 vision centres by 2030, while increasing annual surgeries to 1.5 lakh and investing in digital screening, advanced training, and stem cell research.

Umang Mathur, Chief Executive Officer, described the book as an invitation to journey through the institution’s remarkable century, beginning with the vision of Dr. S.P. Shroff, who started with a simple yet radical idea: to provide quality eye care to the underserved.

“It’s emotional,” said Trilochan Singh, Chairman of the institution. “The book is a treasure trove of ideas, emotions, information, and thoughts that help us celebrate this momentous occasion, 100 years of SCEH.”

What has unfolded over these past 100 years cannot truly be captured in just a few hundred pages. Still, the coffee table book stands as a small tribute to this extraordinary journey.

The book also highlights the institution’s vision to make a lasting impact on the eradication of blindness in India by providing quality eye care to all sections of society.
