Mankind Pharma Extends 1 Crore Support to Captain Smit Macchhar and Family
The pharmaceutical company said the financial assistance is intended to recognise Captain Smit Macchhar’s conduct during a crisis and support him and his family.
Mankind Pharma has extended ?1 crore in financial support to Captain Smit Macchhar and his family, describing the contribution as recognition for his conduct during the recent flydubai Flight FZ1073 incident, in which Captain Smit Machchhar was attacked during the Dubai–Tel Aviv flight and helped enable passengers and crew to regain control of the situation.
The company said the support is intended to go beyond a formal expression of appreciation, with the financial assistance directed towards Captain Smit and his family in recognition of his responsibility towards the people in his care.
Rajeev Juneja, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mankind Pharma, said the company wanted its recognition of Captain Smit’s actions to take the form of direct support rather than words alone.
The announcement comes alongside an earlier personal contribution by Juneja. According to the company, on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, he contributed ?9.17 crore as part of his personal commitment to supporting those who serve the nation.
Mankind Pharma has not provided further details in the supplied release about the circumstances surrounding the crisis in which Captain Smit demonstrated the conduct being recognised, or how the ?1 crore support will be structured or disbursed.
The company’s latest contribution therefore sits within a broader approach to corporate and individual giving that places financial assistance alongside recognition of public service and responsibility.
For Mankind Pharma, the announcement is being positioned as a gesture of gratitude. Beyond the statement of support, however, the details of how the assistance reaches the family—and its longer-term purpose—will provide more context on the impact of the contribution.
